PC Community Main Meeting
7:30 - 10 pm March 3, 2017
Calvary Baptist Church 28924 Ruus Road, Hayward California
President Chuck Horner called the meeting to order at 7:39 pm. Get at least one $5 raffle ticket for this month’s raffle prize, an LG DVD burner.
Presentation: Chuck’s browser is set to open exactly where he shut down, so that his most frequently-used tabs are open and ready to go. It opens with his email, with a calender and contact manager tab, which is what he needs. In his Contact Manager, he starts the group names that he needs to have at the top of his lists with an underscore to force them to the top of the alpha list.
Whatever you do, especially in naming files, folders, and groups, be consistent. If you are inconsistent, it’s hard to find anything without opening and searching files individually, over and over.
Chuck demonstrated Gmail, including searching and group organization, folder organization, and mass email.
Chuck then demonstrated searching for and removing codes in WordPerfect. The next demo was alphabetizing by selected criteria. Using the Format menu to create and edit labels and business cards followed.
Bayle Emlein demonstrated some of the Typesetting features in WordPerfect.
Paul Cooper noted that AMD has released a new processor that is competitive and of good quality. That puts AMD back in competition in the chip market.
After the break, Chuck demonstrated how to change the file format of a picture. Paul pointed out that editing and resaving will cause degradation of a .JPG file. TIFF and BMP files can be saved and edited multiple times without losing data.
