Generally a computer boots to the most recently installed operating system. To change the default:
Go to START
Type: Msconfig
Click on Boot tab
Highlight preferred operating system
Reboot
To help your system go faster, uninstall device drivers for devices you no longer use, such as old printers.
To view hidden devices on your computer:
Click START
Right Click: Run as Administrator
At the DOS Windows prompt, type: CD\
Type: Set Devmgr_show_nonpresent_device=1
Type: devmgmt.msc
Click VIEW
Select: Show hidden devices
Onward to Windows 10.
What? No Windows 9? The story is that Microsoft didn’t want to any confusion with Windows 98.
In Windows 10, Update is in a different place. Virtual machine no longer works. The Windows 10 splash screen opens to an expandable screen of tiles, with a Windows 7-ish list of available apps is list descending down the left border.
Cortana is the Windows 10 answer to Apple’s Siri.
MS Word is integrated into Outlook. Spartan has replaced Internet Explorer. Andrew hasn’t seen much difference between Spartan and IE 11, though Spartan was rewritten from scratch. Maps, photo, and music are integrated more tightly integrated with MS OneDrive cloud storage.
The basic system requirements for Windows 10 are the same as for Windows 7.
Go to /wudt.codeplex.com for a Windows 7USB/DVD download tool. Then you can create a DVD. Windows 10 will be available for a free upgrade from Windows 7 and Windows 8 for the first year from date of release.
By default, “Do not track” is turned off in Windows 10. This means that your web searching is tracked unless you have unchecked the option.
